In response to India's COVID-19 crisis, around 30 students from Cornell AAP, Engineering, and Harvard GSD have formed forIndiaToday (www.forindiatoday.org) comprising of Design forIndiaToday and Code forIndiaToday.
Design forIndiaToday team is collaborating with the Center for Human Habitat and Alternative Technology, the winners of the Buckminster Fuller Prize for their socially responsible design. We are working with them on designing low-cost architecture solutions. Hundreds of low-cost bamboo-based beds, isolation units, etc have reached low-income communities through this effort. They are also designing long-term post-lockdown solutions.
Code forIndiaToday is building a tool for displaced migrant workers to connect with job placements in collaboration with India's Rapid Rural Community Response to COVID-19 (www.rcrc.in). RCRC is also working with some amazing partners like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This team is also building a system that filters and presents government aid programs that an individual is eligible for.
