Shovan Shah is an architect and urban designer based in Chicago.

His work ranges from large scale projects such as the Art Wall at the Mumbai International Airport to the first Urban Placemaking Social Enterprise in India. He is the youngest committee member of the largest cultural festival in Asia and has been a part of the team since 2012.

He has also been part of prestigious exhibitions such as the Venice Architecture Biennial in 2018 (Ports & Portals), The State of Architecture in India and the MoMA PS1. He has worked with practitioners in the field of art, architecture, and urban design such as Moshe Safdie, Jeanne Gang, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Caroline O’Donnell, WW Architecture and Rahul Mehrotra to name a few.

He also is a part of various organizations, both academic and professional, such as the KalaGhoda Arts Festival in Mumbai, chief interviewer for UD:ID (student-led website) and is the Student Academic Chair for Urban Design at Harvard GSD.

He has been parts of various competitions such as the Harvard Innovations Lab Venture Incubation Program, The MIT Case Competition, The Harvard Presidents Innovation Challenge and The Affordable Housing Design Competition. He is recently graduated as a Dean’s Merit Scholar at the Urban Design program at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Shovan holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Mumbai University, and an M.Arch.2 from Cornell University.
